Sedation Dentistry Houston - Elite Dental Wellness

Relax with Sedation Dentistry

During dental visits, many people are nervous and/or anxious. When anesthesia and sedation methods are used, you will be able to relax and feel comfortable within your surroundings. Our goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible throughout the course of your dental treatment.

Anesthesia and sedation are commonly known as anti-anxiety agents that allow patients to relax while undergoing dental treatment. While sedated, you will maintain speech, touch and other functions, but you will be more relaxed than usual. Dental sedatives can be administered three ways: by IV, by mouth (pills) or inhalation (laughing gas or nitrous oxide).

Here at Elite Dental Wellness, we offer sedation by mouth or inhalation, and any deep, IV sedation is administered by a licensed anesthesiologist.

Comfortably Enjoy Your Dental Care

Get the dentistry you need without the anxiety. We take great care to ensure a comfortable experience and we add sedation to that to make it even better.

The use of Deep Sedatives

Depending upon the procedure that you visit us for, you may require anti-anxiety agents or deep sedatives. Deep sedatives are ones that induce deep sedation for more complex procedures, such as dental implants and root canals. In many cases, when your wisdom teeth need to be extracted, deep sedatives may be administered.

When you are under deep sedation, you will lose consciousness and have little feeling throughout your body. This procedure is often referred to as being “put to sleep”. During this procedure, an anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia according to your height, weight and current medical status. You will be put to sleep long enough for a dentist to perform the procedure safely and successfully.

When you wake, you may feel weak and disoriented and will require someone to drive you home. These side effects will vanish after 3 or 4 hours. Anesthesia and sedation techniques make several dental procedures possible and help with the maintenance of a healthy mouth.

Best dentist in Houston
Before you are administered any anesthesia and sedation medications, a dentist will have to follow guidelines set in place by the ADA. We take great care to know your current medical status, medical history and make a note of the current medications that you are taking. Once each factor has been taken into consideration, we will let you know whether you are a candidate to receive sedation during your dental treatment. We take all precautions to ensure that your visit is safe and comfortable.
